Award Winners at Club Dinner

Third XI Batsman of the Year
This award goes to a very promising young wicket-keeper/batsman who represented the Belfast Under-14 team at Arundel. At the end of the season, he kept wicket for the First XI team in their final two matches of the season. For the Third XI, he scored 154 runs at 51.33.

Third XI Bowler of the Year
Peter McAlister became the first recipient of this new award, presented by G4S. A deserved winner of the award, he topped the bowling averages and was leading wicket-taker for the Third XI team. His leg-spin picked up 13 wickets at 12.69.

Fourth XI Player of the Year
Luke Walker managed to win this award last year in just his first season playing cricket. This season, he retained the trophy scoring 144 runs at 36 and taking 6 wickets.

Under-15 Batsman of the Year
This year's winner, Alex Haggan, had a fine season with both bat and ball and represented the NCU with some success in the Under-15 Inter-Provincials. He made his First XI debut in 2008. For the Under-15s, he scored 323 runs at 35.89, including the superb record-breaking 119 against Templepatrick.

Under-15 Bowler of the Year
Glenn Shimmon, the winner of the award this season is still competing at Under-13 level and so, remarkably, has two full seasons left with the Under-15 team. He topped the Under-15 bowling averages with 11 wickets at 8.54. He was selected for the Belfast Under-14s for the Lords' Taverners' Inner Cities Cup and ended the tournament as top wicket-taker at Arundel.

Under-13 Batsman of the Year
Having picked up the Under-15 Bowler of the Year Award, Glenn Shimmon, underlined his credentials as a promising all-rounder with the Under-13 Batsman of the Year Award. His season total of 142 runs included two half-centuries and, remarkably, with just one dismissal , gave him an average of 142.

Under-13 Bowler of the Year
This award went to Aaron Hutton, who contributed 6 wickets to the Under-13 team this season, at an average of 1.66.

Under-11 Player of the Year
Our thanks go to our own Club President, Leslie Thompson, for the presentation of this new award. The inaugural winner of the award was Andrew Palmer who had a fantastic all-round season with the Under-11 team, scoring 55 runs at 27.50 and 11 wickets at just 2.55 including figures of 6 for 1 against Ballymena.
