Matthew Palmer Batting Style Bowling Style Right-hand Left-arm orthodox Profile Young slow left arm spinner who has to date not fulfilled the prodigious talent he showed as a youngster. Represented NCU Under 13's in Inter-Provincials, and Belfast Under 14's in Lord's Taverners' Inner Cities Cup at Arundel 2005. Bowler of the Tourament at Arundel taking 6-19 in the final as Belfast won the 2005 Inner Cities Cup. Captained the Belfast team in the 2006 tournament, and also played for Northern Ireland Under 14's. Won the Club's Under 13 Bowling Cup 2005 and Under 15 Bowling Cup 2006 and 2007. Made his 1st XI debut August 2006 aged 14, taking 3-38 v Bangor in second match. Selected for NICA Junior Academy training camp in La Manga in Spain, and for NCU in Under 15 Interpros and Ulster Schools Under 15's for their tour to England in 2007. Had a difficult season in 2008 when he struggled with his bowling and was unable to command a regular 1st XI place. Moved to Academy in 2009 and is playing for their 1st XI in Section 2.
