Experienced player who was a 1st XI regular for almost two decades. An all-rounder in his early days and latterly an opening batsman. Captain 1982-84, 1987-88, and 1991. Player of Year 1979 & 1980, 1986 & 1987. Scored a then club record 4662 runs, as well as picking up 189 wickets. Scored almost 3000 runs for the 2nd XI which he captained until a serious illness towards the end of 2002 meant he was unable to play in 2003 . Joined the NCU umpires list in 2004, as well as playing a few matches on the 3rd XI. Recovered sufficiently to play a full season for the 3rd XI in 2005 and played in their Lindsay Minor Cup winning team (see article dated 25/08/05). Was 3rd XI Player of the Year 2006. Captained the 3rd XI in 2007, and continued to make progress as an umpire. Rose quickly through the ranks to become one of the NCU's senior umpires, and was appointed to the ICC's European panel of umpires in 2009.
