New Zealander Andre has gone on to greater things since playing for the club as a 19 year old amateur in 1995. 256 runs @18.28 - HS 89 32 wkts @ 15.62 - BB 4-30 Won 1st XI Bowling Cup. An accurate pace bowler and hard-hitting middle order batsman, he soon established himself in the Auckland team. He made his only Test appearance v England at Auckland in March 2002, when he picked up 6 wickets to help win the test and tie the series. Had already become a regular member of the New Zealand one-day side, making his debut in 2000/01. Hit a six to win the 1st ODI v England at Christchurch, Man of Match in 2nd ODI v England at Wellington Feb 2002. Took 5-22 v India Jan. 2003. A member of New Zealand 2003 World Cup squad in South Africa, his quick-fire 35* followed up by bowling figures of 4-44 won him the Man of the Match award in the 20 run win v West Indies. Had made 42 ODI appearances up to Jan. 2007. Played for Herefordshire as their overseas player in C&G Trophy 2001 and was in the side which defeated Middlesex. Was a welcome visitor to Carrick in 2000 when he was playing as a professional in Nottingham. Made his County Championship debut for Essex in July 2004, scoring 124 off 91 balls batting at number 9 in his debut innings. Earned a full time contract with the county for 2005 and returned in 2006. Moved to Nottinghamshire in 2007, and was their leading wicket taker and player of the year when they won the County Championship in 2010. Career statistics and pictures of Andre can be found here.
