Snehal from Baroda, India, became the Clubs first Professional/Coach when he came to Carrick in 1986. He had spent the previous season with his great friend and mentor Ashok Mankad at Armagh CC. Snehal started the youth and schools coaching scheme that was to reap rewards for the club in later years, and discovered, among others, Ryan Eagleson. He helped the Club win the Section 4 title in his first season, but despite his best efforts, a team in transition was relegated in 1988. Snehal spent three seasons with Carrick 1986-1988. He scored a total of 1422 runs at an average of 43.07. He scored two centuries, his highest being 127* v Dunmurry in 1987. Snehal had made his Ranji Trophy debut back in 1981, when he became the first Baroda player to score a century in their debut innings. He and wife Leena have a young son and daughter and still reside in Baroda, where he is now a prominent businessman as Managing Director of the family advertising business. Snehal is still involved in cricket as a selector for the Baroda state team, and a match referee in Indian first class cricket. Apart from the occasional game of cricket for his local Round Table, his sporting activities are these days restricted to the golf course, where he recently shot a hole in one. Still shows a keen interest in the Club and keeps in touch on a regular basis. Was a very welcome visitor when he and Leena spent a short holiday in Carrick in May 2004.
