To make room for new stories on the 'Club News' page, all of our stories will eventually move here to the archives but they will stay available here for future reference... 27/12/01 First XI results for 2000 added to database... Another quick note to draw your attention to the fact that all First XI results for the 2000 season have now been added to the database and are available via the 'Match Results' link on the left menu. Thanks go to Roger for taking the time to enter all the results! 26/12/01 Second XI results for 2001 added to database... A quick note to draw your attention to the fact that all Second XI results for the 2001 season have now been added to the database and are available via the 'Match Results' link on the left menu. The results are also integrated into the 'Player Statistics' feature, (again available via the left-menu), so you can view the individual performances of all the players involved in the Second XI campaign for last season. For your future note, the integration of results into players' statistics is automatic and as soon as new match result information is added, the individual player statistics are instantly updated to reflect the additional performances... 21/12/01 All fixtures for 2002 season now available... Apologies for the lack of updates recently but we have now added the Fourth and Fifth XI fixtures to the database so the fixture list for the entire club for the 2002 season is now available here or via the 'Fixtures' button on the left menu. 08/12/01 Team captains for 2002 season confirmed... Coaching Committee recommendations were discussed at the monthly Management Committee meeting on Thursday evening and we are delighted to be able confirm our team captains for the coming season as follows: Club Captain Ryan Eagleson Second XI Alex Adams Third XI Jim McClurkin Fourth XI Davy Wight Fifth XI Davy McKillen 08/12/01 Third XI fixtures now available... The Third XI team's fixtures for 2002 season have been drawn up and are also now available on the site - you can get them here or via the 'Fixtures' button on the left menu... 03/12/01 Second XI fixtures now available... Disappointingly for someone with my (almost criminal) predilection for verbosity, there is simply only so much you can say about this one! The Second XI team's fixtures for 2002 season have been drawn up and are now available on the site - you can get them here or via the 'Fixtures' button on the left menu... 01/12/01 Club news format changed by popular request... A suggestion was made to us that the news headlines box was starting to get a little too big for its boots, requiring you to scroll down to somewhere around Cape Town to access the club events and lottery results features! This seemed like a fair point and to try and make the news page a little more compact, we've changed the format to display only the news headlines with the actual story broken out into our friendly little pop-up window. Besides... it gave us a great excuse to make room on the home page to permanently house that corking picture of Tonto that you all liked so much! If anyone has any grave objections to this new format or suggestions for a better layout for this page (or any other page), please contact us with them. 01/12/01 Easier access to fixtures via left menu... Just a quick note to point out that you can now access the fixture lists via the left menu (above 'Match Results' button). It was pointed out to us that the fixtures became a bit lost once that story moved into the archive so hopefully this will rectify that problem! 01/12/01 Read this if you've tried to contact us via the web-form! Just yesterday we discovered a bit of a gremlin in the web-form on the 'Contact Us' page which may have led to some messages not reaching us. The problem only affected messages which were sent without an email address supplied so if you have sent a message without supplying your email or if you have sent a message and didn't receive a reply, we apologise but it probably never reached us here. We apologise to anyone who thinks this error might have affected a message they have sent and would urge you to please do contact us again as the problem has now been resolved... (well, we hope! Haha!). 29/11/01 European Championship fixture confirmed... It somehow escaped my notice but matches and dates for the European Cricket Championships have now been confirmed. We will be hosting Gibraltar v Portugal on Friday 19th. July. We sincerely hope our members and the local community will support both the Club and the Championships by getting along to see some, no doubt, high quality action... Indeed, if you are a casual follower of cricket but have never really taken time to go to a game, this would be a great opportunity to make your first visit as the European Championships is surely one of the top cricket tournaments in the world outside of the Test-nations arena... 29/11/01 Site revamp complete... Well, the site revamp has (thankfully) now been finished! Hopefully problems with Netscape browsers (kindly pointed out by John Elder of UlsterWeb) and the glitches with the bowler stats have now been rectified. Most of the other changes are behind the scenes, with the error-handling much improved so at least when things go pear-shaped, you might know why! As ever, if you notice any unexpected 'features' (i.e. problems), please email me the details. Maintaining the site is very time-consuming and doesn't leave much time to continually check the site myself, so you can contribute a little bit of valuable help just by reporting problems. 29/11/01 Second photo in the player profiles section!! The response to our appeal for photos has been truly overwhelming and we now already have a grand total of two (that's 2) player photos online! Haha! You can check out Parky's mugshot and a great piece of defensive work from our very own Irish International right now. The offer is still open - if you have a photo of a player to help take the bad look of the profiles section(!), please send it in (JPEG format and approx. 200 X 200 pixels would be appreciated). We promise not to tell anyone if you send a pic of yourself... (yeah right!). 28/11/01 New photos of the clubhouse and grounds... Some fantastic photographs of the club and ground have been added to enhance the look of the ' Club History' and ' Club Develoment' pages of the site. Our thanks go to Phil McKnight for providing the snaps! 28/11/01 Current availability of results... The current availability of results on the site will be permanently diplayed at the top of the news box on the home page from now on, providing you with an easier way to check our progress in this regard. All First XI results have now been added for last season, by the way! 28/11/01 Revamp of the site coming soon... John Elder of UlsterWeb was kind enough to point out that the site has not been displaying properly (ie at all!) in certain versions of the Netscape Navigator browser. Some of the more observant (read: 'vain' if you are a bowler!) may have also noticed a gremlin in the maidens reported in the bowling averages always reading '0'. Both of these problems will be rectified in a revamped site to be uploaded within the next couple of days... if you have noticed any other unexpected 'features', I'd appreciate an email with details so I can (try to) fix as many problems as possible in one go. 28/11/01 First photo in the player profiles section!! I think Coops is down at Lansdowne today so, as much as we like him, I reckon we'll be hoping he doesn't have too happy a birthday! 15/11/01 Deloitte & Touche Senior Cup Draw 2002 made this morning... 1st. Round Carrickfergus v. Saintfield (Winners to play the cup holders North Down at home... jeez, it's never easy, eh?). 12/11/01 'Unofficial' pictures from the Club Dinner now available...
