Young Cricketer of the Year
Iain Parkhill at last rid himself of the 'promising' tag this season to firmly
establish himself as a vital member of the First XI. As an all-rounder, he is
capable of match-winning performances with both bat and ball.
With 164 runs at an average of 18.44, (high score of 35 not out), and leg-spin
accounting for 23 wickets at an average of 15.83, (best of 4 for 20), he
deservedly reatined this award.

Junior Bowler of the Year
Young fast bowler, Anthony Martin had an outstanding season in 2002,
regularly opening the bowling for the Second XI and making a number of
appearances for the First XI as the season progressed.
A great young prospect, he took 14 wickets at an average of 18.50, with a best
performance of 4 for 16. He also showed a stark improvement with the bat over
the course of the season.

Junior Batsman of the Year
As the First XI's all-time leading run-scorer, Nigel McFarland is perhaps more
accustomed to handling the senior batting award, which he received on several
occasions during the 1980's and 90's. So, having decided to step down from
top-level cricket this year, it is little surprise that he excelled this season
and is a worthy winner of the Junior Batsman award.
With 278 runs at an average of 30.89 including two half-centuries and a high
score of 64, it seems that Nigel is enjoying his cricket in this more relaxed
atmosphere.

'Glasgow kiss'!.
