Award Winners at Club Dinner

Special Recognition
The Club is always keen to acknowledge those who have made an outstanding
contribution as players by commemorating their 25th anniversary as a playing
member.
Reaching the milestone this year was Michael Ross, who commenced his
Carrickfergus C.C. playing career as a schoolboy in D. Ashby's Third XI in 1978.
He soon made his way into the First XI where he scored over 3,000 runs. He is
still playing at Second XI level, where a number of our younger players are
benefiting from his great experience. Off the filed, Michael has been, at various
times, Honorary Secretary and Honorary Treasurer and is a current member of the
Management Commitee.

Club Cricketer of the Year
Club Captain, Ryan Eagleson, once again enjoyed a fantastic season and made a
massive contribution towards fulfiling his career-long dream to see Carrickfergus
Cricket Club playing Section One cricket.
Leading from the front, he topped both bowling and batting averages, taking 43
wickets and scoring 820 runs (average, 58.57) in a sensational season. His
brilliant form with bat and ball helped win back, and surely secure, his spot
in the Ireland team.

First XI Bowler of the Year
Ryan was also the receipient of our First XI Bowler of the Year Award, with his
43 wickets costing just 10.26 apiece. His amazing spell of 6 for 13 to destroy
Section One Downpatrick in the Senior Cup Quarter Final was surpassed only by
his 6 for 10 against Derrighy in the same competition, which won him the award
at the NCU dinner for the season's best bowling in the Senior Cup.

First XI Batsman of the Year
A player deservedly retaining their trophy was Barry Cooper. It was remarkable
season for Carrick's adopted son, which saw him first pass Nigel MacFarland's
First XI run-scoring record, and then proceed to become the first Carrickfergus
player to exceed 5,000 First XI runs. Coops racked up another record-breaking
868 runs (most First XI runs scored in a single season) at an average of 54.25,
including 5 Fifties and 2 Centuries to receive this trophy for the sixth time.
