Vauxhall Tankard Award
This award is generally given to someone who has contributed an outstanding
match-winning performance but this years recipient could have been presented
the trophy for any one of a number of vital innings - Derriaghy, Holywood, or
Larne.
It is, however, for one glorious shot that he wins this year's Tankard. The
wonderful straight six that nobody who saw it will ever forget, struck in a
pressurised match against Muckamore that just about won us the League Title.
This year's deserving winner was Ally McCalmont.

Young Cricketer of the Year
Jonathan Parkes is a young batsman who is now starting to score the volume of
runs for the Second XI that he was scoring for the Under-15's and lower men's
XI's two or three years ago. After missing the first part of the season due to
academic commitments, he managed to score 397 runs at an average of 39.70, in
only eleven matches, opening the batting for the Second XI. During a purple
patch in August, he racked up scores of 86, 90 and 89. We can only hope that
this is a big step towards doing the same for the First XI and realising the
talent and application that this young man has shown since schoolboy level.

Second XI Batsman of the Year
Nigel McFarland has been the winner of the First XI Batting Cup on countless
occasions and this year he deservedly retained the Second XI Batsman of the Year
Award. Continuing to score heavily in a Second XI benefiting greatly from his
experience, Nigel racked up 465 runs at an average of 33.21 with 3 Fifties and
a highest score of 75.

Vinay Sharma spent the first half of the season between the First and Second

wickets at the exceptionally low average of 9.90 with best figures of 4 for 17.
He also managed 21 wickets for the First XI at an average of 13.71 with a best
of 5 for 21.
