Award Winners at Club Dinner
Vauxhall Tankard Award
The Vauxhall Tankard Award is presented to the individual who contributes the
season's most outstanding match-winning performance. This year, the honour went
to Stephen Grant. His sensational bowling performance for the Fourth XI against
Ards III's saw him notch up the best bowling analysis in the Club this season,
with 6 wickets for just 9 runs - a performance truly worthy of the Vauxhall Tankard.

Young Cricketer of the Year
This year's winner, Andrew Cowden, has worked incredibly hard to improve his game
and last winter, spent in Melbourne, brought its rewards. Andrew was one of the most
consistent opening batsmen in the Premier League last season and his medium-pace
bowling improved sufficiently to see him pick up 10 wickets, including the remarkable
analysis of 5 for 10 against Derriaghy in the Challenge Cup. He scored 527 runs at
29.28, including thre half-centuries and a highest score of 77. His batting contribution
s well reflected in the fact that he also featured in the highest partnerships for the
1st, 2nd and 3rd wickets this season.

Second XI Batsman of the Year
Our winner, Craig Hamilton, has already received awards this evening for his two
centuries against Larne and these contributed to his 464 runs for the season and
an excellent average of 77.33. In addition to his two big hundreds, Craig also
notched up innings of 85 and 68 and, towards the end of the season, began to make
his presence felt on the First XI with some useul knocks.

Second XI Bowler of the Year
Were it not for the exceptional exploits of Craig Hamilton, our Second XI
Bowling Cup winner, Ian Latham, would have had a strong claim to both Second
XI awards this year! Ian had a fine all-round season, scoring 393 runs at
35.73 with five half-centuries. It was his bowling perfromances that secured
this award, however, and he was lead wicket-taker and by far the most
consistent and economical bowler with 17 wickets at an average of 18.47,
including a hat-trick, four 3 wicket hauls, and a best of 3 for 16.
